Lenses of Croydon return with another event to help keep photographers across the world feeling connected and inspired.

We’ve tried to offer support to people interested in photography from across the world during the global pandemic as a result of this, Lenses of Croydon has experienced significant growth since March 2020. Our weekly talks by a rich international mix of photographers have proved both inspiring and fun.

This week we have invited another exciting photographer to share with us. Bertrand Augustin has always been a creative individual, having studied art right through to A-level. After years of bouncing around different jobs, ranging from working in a gym to being a security guard, he quit after deciding to pursue a career in the long-term hobby of his barbering. Fast forward 12 years, and Bertrand is now a skilled barber with a loyal customer base. While developing his craft, Betranded created his respected brand, House of Bertrand, to market and display his work on social media. However, he wanted to do so creatively to show the world how he views his work as a barber, literally as means of artistic expression.

He purchased his first camera in July 2020 and began taking photos of his customers. His love for photography grew from there, leading to him recently joining Lenses of Croydon and now seeking out projects to creatively direct, style and photograph. Bertrand journey may have only just begun, but he hopes to continue learning and developing as a photographer. Telling stories through his pictures and using them provides insight into how his mind works and how the world looks through his eyes.

As he continues to experiment with photography, Bertrand has already secured commissions working with brands while shooting in both analogue and digital camera formats.

Bertrand has kindly donated a print of one of his images for our event prize draw. While any size donation is welcomed, donations of £3 will entitle you to an entry into the evening’s prize draw, and a donation of £5 will give you 2 prize draw entries and so forth.

We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday!!!!
