Since swapping his turntables for a camera and adapting the moniker, Gemini Snaps, our guest speaker has consumed himself with getting out and taking pictures.
Like many members of our Lenses of Croydon family, Gemini has readily available peer support from our group. Still, his growth as a photographer has been accelerated by his commitment to practising his craft. Despite still seeking to identify his favoured genre of photography, Gemini has developed quite a name for himself as a social documentary photographer that covers many protests and social events across London, particularly those led by the Black British community. He has a keen interest in capturing portraits, and shooting with his lens wide open has become what many consider his trademark.
His work has been published in both the national press and independent publications. Gemini has several Instagram accounts where he shares his work, often playing on words but always representing his subject sensitively and respectfully, ensuring not to inflict his narrative on the images he captures.
Gemini has kindly donated a print of one of his images for our event prize draw. While any size donation is welcomed, donations of £3 will entitle you to an entry into the evening’s prize draw, and a donation of £5 will give you 2 prize draw entries and so forth.
